Background to Puzzle-O-Pedia

The Puzzle-O-Pedia concept was originally born out of my personal enjoyment of puzzles in general, both for relaxation and for the Brain Training benefits which they bring to so many.

I have always from an early age loved the challenges posed by puzzles of all types – from crosswords and sudokus through to exotic logical conundrums.
Then one day I came across a software which helped create Word Puzzles such as Word Searches; Word Matches; Word Scrambles and Cryptograms. Within a few short hours I became absolutely hooked on yet another aspect of puzzles – actually creating them!!
I also found software to create what were loosely termed “crosswords” but to be honest I was not at all impressed so I set myself a further challenge of creating from scratch my own crossword-type puzzles which I call my Word Grids.

To cut a long story short, I went ahead and created content for four puzzle books, three of which have already been published on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (One Hundred Wonderful Word Games – Series by Nick Everest) and are currently available for purchase if you prefer your puzzles ready printed for you!

Another of my longtime interests has been building my own websites – in particular websites using the fabulous WordPress Content Management System. So very early in my new fascination with puzzle creation I decided to create a website for puzzle lovers and eventually puzzle creators – to provide a community and a resource for others interested in the same activities.

With several other projects currently under way the Puzzleopedia.com website was originally scheduled for going live in time for Christmas 2020. But the unfortunate arrival of Covid-19 has altered my thinking.

With so many of you basically stuck at home – maybe on your own, maybe with children – the need for self-occupation and pleasant distraction has probably never been greater. I am absolutely certain that many of you will welcome the opportunity to have something other than TV to occupy at least some of those long hours cooped up with the same four walls and the same company day in day out.

So I have brought forward the launching of my Puzzle-O-Pedia site in the hope of being able to offer a socially useful service to the community – a service that has the potential to help with the mental well being of you and all your families.

Basically, for the duration of the public health emergency I want to offer my entire back-catalogue of puzzles in downloadable PDF format to anybody and everybody who can make use of it to alleviate boredom and keep the grey cells ticking over – TOTALLY FREE AND WITHOUT OBLIGATION.

Please note that you will need access to a printer in order to actually use these puzzles.

How Will It Work?

The Puzzle-O-Pedia site will eventually be a community for everybody interested in puzzles and puzzle creation – of all types. It will offer downloadable puzzles, tools, training, discussion, services and resources.

Most of the community features will be available to members only – with a range of membership levels available dependent on your specific interests and needs.

Most of the products will be available for sale to non-members as well – but as a member you will enjoy substantial discounts on ALL paid content.

Current (Initial) Content

Special Bundles of puzzles from our back-catalogue have been especially assembled for individuals and families needing relaxation and mental stimulation during the Covid-19 social restrictions covering most of our planet right now.

Each Special Bundle consists of 20 mixed Word Puzzles – 4 each of Word Search; Word Match; Word Scramble; Word Grid and Cryptogram formats.
These are in the form of PDF files which you can open and print off according to the terms of our LICENCE.

Most common browsers have the ability to open PDF files as downloadable and printable documents. We recommend Chrome or Firefox.

Because our puzzles are intended to be available to casual purchasers as well as to Puzzle-O-Pedia Members, all of our products will show price tags when you view them. As a Member in good standing, you will be entitled to discount vouchers redeemable against specific products and as a Founder Member your membership itself will ALWAYS be FREE and your vouchers will entitle you to FREE products as follows:

Free Content for Founder Members

There is a total of 10 bundles available which will be released free of charge to our Founder Members at the rate of one per week.

In the interests of total transparency please note that the majority of these puzzles have already been published in our One Hundred Wonderful Word Games series available from the Amazon website.

How Do I Become a Member?

Simply go to our Registration Form to sign up. The personal information given here will only be used to create your user account and for communication regarding your membership. In particular, you will not receive any marketing or promotional messages from us as a result of your sign up.

Again in the interests of total transparency, we may offer you the opportunity to opt in to future promotional messages through forms on our web pages but such opt ins will be entirely separate from your registration and entirely at your sole discretion.

Do I Need to Become a Member?

Our Products will be available for purchase at the advertised retail prices to all visitors to the Puzzleopedia.com site so membership is not a requirement to purchase.

But when you become a Member your benefits will include Discount Voucher Codes which will be emailed to you periodically for you to set against our normal retail prices. We guarantee that the value of your vouchers will always more than offset any membership fee that may be charged.

For the duration of the current public health emergency (see below) the following minimum standards will apply:

• All new members will be designated as Founder Members
• Founder Membership will ALWAYS be FREE of charge for as long as you do not close your membership account.
  • Regardless of the eventual end date of the emergency ALL Founder Members will be entitled to the minimum of 10 weeks’ 100% Discount Vouchers
• Discount Codes will be emailed WEEKLY** for the first 10 weeks of membership and will each give 100% discount on one Special Bundle of the Week
  • You will receive a discount code for Bundle 1 in Week 1 of your membership; for Bundle 2 in Week 2 etc.

What Levels of Membership are Available?

Founder Member

As the site is being brought into service several months ahead of schedule most of the planned tools, resources and content are not yet available. We thought it may be important to our potential users to gain access to some usable content as soon as possible given the current situation – so here we are. And basically that means there is only currently the one level of membership available – Founder Member.

Founder Member Benefits

Founder Members will enjoy lifetime FREE access to the community areas of the site as they become available. You will also be eligible for the 100% discount voucher codes relating to the 10 Special Bundles of puzzle PDFs.

Newly Created Content – going forward

As we create new content, that too will be made available to Founder Members at attractive special discount rates. From time to time and at our sole discretion we may make some of the newly created content available FREE but we do have to make a living!! We are keenly aware that some of our current free content is a little advanced for younger family members and will do our level best to include something for all the family in our Covid Crisis Offers – as soon as we can!!

Founder Member Benefits beyond the Covid-19 crisis

As a Founder Member you will continue to enjoy free access to our site including all Members Discount Vouchers** for as long as you remain a member. Future new Members joining after the emergency has passed will be charged membership fees of £2.99 per month or £29.99 per annum.

Member – “Ordinary Member”

“Ordinary” memberships will be made available once the current public health emergency has passed. “Ordinary” members will receive the same access and discounts as our Founder Members but will pay the full monthly membership fee. Founder Membership will no longer be available to anyone joining or re-joining once the current pandemic is officially over.

Puzzle-O-Pedia Definition of “End of Current Public Health Emergency”

Please note that this is in no way an official comment on the actual state of play regarding the pandemic.

It is merely the set of circumstances which will trigger the end of our FREE FOUNDER MEMBERSHIP offer. For absolute clarity, this will be the point in time at which prospective new Members will no longer be able to take up Founder Membership and enjoy the free subscription rates.

Our FREE FOUNDER MEMBERSHIP offer is our response to the need for our users to entertain themselves and their loved ones in their homes during the period of social restrictions enforced as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
